About us
The Iron Ladies was founded in spring 2013 by Kate Ben Abdallah, Clair Ridgewell and Nicky Mucina, three mums who initially cleaned independently in the SE London area, coming together to offer a more comprehensive service to a much wider audience.
Our initial ethos and aim was to provide a “by mums for mums” cleaning service that targeted local mothers in particular. This concept although close to our hearts, grew to incorporate clients from a variety of backgrounds and with very different cleaning needs and we now prefer to a label ourselves as a community focused company, taking an active role in local areas.
Kate
Kate has an office based work history and worked for many years in the private sector, supplying administration and technical support in a variety of roles. She had her first child in December 2000, closely followed by two more in successive years. After her third child she decided to take a career break and became a stay at home mummy. In 2008 she had her fourth child and completed her family in 2011 with baby No.5. Shortly after, she decided she would like to return work in a part time role, one that worked around her children. Domestic cleaning fitted in with her busy life and has since blossomed into Kate’s new career and thriving business.
Clair
Kate’s colleague Clair joined Gregg’s the Bakers as a Saturday girl in 1994. Upon leaving school, she embarked on a fulltime role with the company and steadily rose through the ranks. She became assistant manager at the age of 19 and continued to thrive, becoming store manager at 21. She combined her career with starting a family and had her first child in 2001. Her second child followed in 2004 and by the time her third and fourth arrived, a change in circumstances led her to look for a role l that gave her time to devote to her family, whilst still having an active and professional life outside the home. She teamed up with Kate and our third colleague Nicky and became one third of The Iron ladies.
Nicky
Nicky started her career in childcare. Upon finishing her studies she became a nanny and spent 3 years with one family and her young charges. After fulfilling her role there, she sought additional training and became a special needs teaching assistant in a Brixton school for several more years. Her first child was born in 2004, shortly followed by her second in 2006. After a brief break to raise the children, she secured a privileged position with a prominent family locally and became their fulltime housekeeper. She remained loyally with them until their sad deaths and therefore she needed a new role to occupy her time.
The Iron Ladies concept was born and we have gradually evolved and grown into the company we are today. We hope to have continued success building our lovely client base further and continue to develop our services to provide the perfect cleaning experience.
